Background
The City of Toronto is constructing a new watermain along Avenue Road between MacPherson Avenue (South end) and Caribou Road (north end). View Map of Watermain Construction Route (PDF)

The existing watermain was constructed in 1915 and 1923. It distributes water to reservoirs across the City and is being replaced to increase the security of supply and to improve system performance. The valve chambers located primarily along Duplex Avenue with a few chambers on other streets will be decommissioned and will no longer operate.

For more detailed information, view the Presentation (PDF) which was shown at our Public Open House for residents on Thursday May 6, 2010 at the City of Toronto Archives and on Monday May 10, 2010 at the North Toronto Memorial Community Centre.
