Ellis Avenue/Colborne Lodge Drive Wetlands

This site was last updated October 28, 2011

Wetland

In 2007, five wetlands were constructed to deal with the
stormwater draining from two storm sewer outfalls for the
Ellis Avenue and Colborne Lodge Drive area near High Park
and cost $5.8 million. The wetlands are located in the following
areas:

  • Colborne Lodge Drive and Lakeshore Blvd.: The wetland
treats stormwater flow from the Colborne Lodge
and Lakeshore Blvd. area. The stormwater is pretreated
by an oil and grit separator.

  • Adjacent to the Humber River: A large, state-of-the-art
wetland and forebay treats stormwater flows from
Lakeshore Blvd. and Colborne Lodge Drive.

  • Rennie Park: A wetland and forebay, along with creek
restoration treats stormwater flows from the north
    Swansea neighbourhood

  • Southwest section of Grenadier Pond: A wetland and
forebay treats stormwater flows from West Pond and
    Ellis Avenue

  • Bottom of Ellis Avenue: A wetland treats stormwater
flows from the south end of Ellis Avenue and the
    Queensway.

In 2002, a Schedule "C" Class Environmental Assessment Study was completed.
