This site was last updated on April 24, 2012

Project Overview
Toronto Water is undertaking a project to upgrade and rehabilitate  sewage pumping stations located throughout the City. Upgrade work includes replacing existing aged pumps with new submersible sewage pumps, electrical upgrades, and installing new instrumentation and control devices. Structural and architectural improvements will also be made in order to restore the existing structures and improve the system reliability and efficiency.

The 10 pumping stations involved in this project are known as Warden SPS, Grand River SPS, Military Trail SPS, Redlands SPS, Kingston Road SPS, Bluffers Park SPS, West Point SPS, Sewells Road SPS, Grey Abbey SPS and Fallingbrook SPS.

The location of the each of the respective stations is displayed in the map below.

Construction Details and Schedule
Upgrades to the sewage pumping stations will begin Fall 2010 and will be upgraded in sequence.

Construction work will be scheduled to adhere to the City’s noise by-law and will normally take place between 7:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday. When required, some work may take place outside of these normal working hours but this will only be permitted at the discretion of the City and will only be done if absolutely necessary.

The majority of the work at each of the ten Sewage Pumping Stations will take place inside the Sewage Pumping Stations and will have little impact on traffic, noise and odours.

Early Site Mobilization
Early site mobilization activities will begin in late summer 2010 and last for the next few months. These site mobilization activities will take place outside the sewage pumping station buildings. Activities include: delivery of equipment and materials, installation and servicing of field office and delivery of construction materials and small tools. These outside activities will have minimal impacts on traffic, and public access. There will not be more than 3 to 4 vehicles on site while outside work is taking place. The vehicles will be parked at the sewage pumping station access roads or at the sewage pumping stations.

Additional construction details for each of the Group III Sewage Pumping Stations can be found by clicking on the links below.  Information will continue to be updated as additional construction details become available.
