This site was last updated June 28, 2006

Welcome to the 2006 Gerrard Streetcar Track Reconstruction Webpage. Here you will find regularly updated information about the project. In addition, check your mail for further construction notices.

Track reconstruction on Gerrard Street East is now complete. City of Toronto and TTC staff appreciate the patience and support of the community during this reconstruction project.

Beginning April 3rd, 2006 the City of Toronto and the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) will be replacing streetcar tracks on Gerrard Street East, between Coxwell Avenue and Enderby Road. Due to rail age and declining structural conditions, this section of streetcar track has been identified as being in need of replacement.

Track reconstruction will be carried out in 2 stages:

Stage 1: Preliminary work – Completed
Rail Welding & Storage
Preliminary work to deliver, weld and store new rail was completed by the TTC on April 3rd, 2006.

Stage 2: Track replacement
In order to provide smooth and durable streetcar operation through the community, the existing Gerrard Street East streetcar track will be replaced.

For timelines, construction details, traffic and parking restrictions and changes to transit service, see construction notice (PDF).
