Public Notices
Project Background
Three bridges in the Jameson and Lake Shore Boulevard area need to be maintained in a state of good repair, and will be undergoing reconstruction. The three bridges are:
- Lake Shore Boulevard bridge westbound, west of Jameson Avenue
- Jameson Avenue bridge over the Gardiner Expressway
- Lake Shore Boulevard bridge westbound at Dunn Avenue
These three bridges, constructed in 1958, are in need of extensive repairs and structural replacement. The purpose of the work is to:
- Restore and preserve the structural integrity of the bridges and its components
- Prolong the safe service life of the bridges
- Achieve conformity with the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Guide requirements and
- Accommodate for future improvements as to the Western Waterfront Master Plan.
Construction
Construction work on these bridges will impact traffic. Access to roads will be closed and a temporary detour will be constructed to accommodate traffic. See more details in the Public Notice (PDF) Presentation Boards (PDF) and Construction Notice (PDF).
- Both the Lake Shore Blvd westbound bridges to and off from Jameson Avenue will be closed to traffic
- The Jameson bridge will be reduced to one lane in each direction
- A temporary detour of Lake Shore Blvd westbound will be constructed
- A temporary signalized intersection will be created at Jameson Avenue at Lake Shore Blvd (detour)
Pedestrian and Vehicle Access
As a result of this construction work:
- The Gardiner Expressway westbound off ramp to Dunn Avenue and Jameson Avenue will have one lane open for traffic
- Pedestrian and bicycle access on Jameson Avenue and the bridge to Marilyn Bell Park will be maintained on one side

Lake Shore Boulevard westbound Closures: both Lake Shore Boulevard westbound bridges to and from Jameson Avenue (#1 and #3, see map will be closed)
August 7, 2010 to Spring 2011
Temporary Detour
As a result of the complete demolition and construction of the two bridges (#1 and #3, see map) which allowed Lake Shore Boulevard westbound traffic to pass over the Gardiner, a temporary detour was constructed. This temporary detour will allow traffic to continue to use this route during construction phases.
However, after the construction of the bridges are complete, it will take additional time to remove the detour and return the bridges back into service. Please click here for more details on the temporary detour or see the public notices at the top of this webpage.
