The City of Toronto is studying the possibility of constructing a new east-west street along the south end of the Liberty neighbourhood between Dufferin Street and Strachan Avenue. The new street would provide the opportunity to improve circulation for all modes of travel and support community development.
Update, December 6, 2011
The display materials from the December 1, 2011 Public Open House #2 are now online. Materials include detailed drawings of the preferred design of a new east-west street. See below...
Public Consultation
Plans have not been finalized. We are seeking your input. The City will be consulting with many stakeholders and will seek public input on options at key stages.
Introductory Workshop (March 2011)
An introductory public information session was held on Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at Liberty Noodle (171 East Liberty St.)
Workshop Results
As part of the March 1st open house, participants were invited to use Dotmocracy Sheets to share their ideas, record their levels of agreement on each others' ideas, and note comments in response. Of the 24 ideas posted by participants, 11 were in scope for the Liberty Village New Street study and received sufficient dots to recognize a trend:
These Dotmocracy results will be used as one of many sources of information, are not considered a formal vote and will not necessarily determine any decision-making direction. View the workshop instructions and definition.(PDF)
A summary report of all comments received (including the "Difficult Locations" map, e-mails, comment forms, etc.) will be completed following the March 15, 2011 comment submission deadline.
This event also included materials and teams from two other Liberty Village projects:
