The City of Toronto has completed the North York Centre South Service Road Municipal Class Environmental Assessment Addendum, which has evaluated options and proposed changes to Doris Avenue, Bonnington Place and Tradewind Avenue.

As a result of the evaluation that has been undertaken, the EA Addendum recommends a two phased approach (Option C and modified Option B) which would include a new road connection between Doris Avenue and Tradewind Avenue. Both phases protect for a four lane street south of Sheppard Avenue, with two lanes in each direction, sidewalks on both sides of the road, and a wider boulevard where feasible.

Phase 1 (Interim Condition)

  • Extend Tradewind Avenue north to Sheppard Avenue East
  • Offset intersection at Tradewind Avenue / Sheppard Avenue East and Doris Avenue / Sheppard Avenue
  • Bonnington Place to become a northbound ‘right-out’ connection to Sheppard Avenue East

Phase 2 (Future Condition)

  • Realign Doris Avenue approaching Sheppard Avenue East to meet the northern extension of Tradewind Avenue
  • Single four-legged intersection

A Notice of Completion was issued on March 17, 2022, and an Environmental Study Report was placed on the public record for a 30-day review period ending on April 15, 2022.

In December 2020, City Council adopted IE18.2 North York Centre – Doris Avenue Extension (South Service Road – Environmental Assessment Addendum)

In 2020, the project team invited the public to review the updated plans for the new road and provide feedback.

The project team received 41 completed feedback forms, with responses recording majority support for the two-phased plan as presented.
