Sheppard Avenue East Light Rail Transit (LRT)

The Sheppard Avenue East Light Rail Transit (LRT) will provide a fast, reliable, and comfortable way to travel on Sheppard Avenue between Don Mills Subway Station and Meadowvale Road. The LRT is planned to enter a tunnel just west of Consumers Road, travel under Highway 404 and connect directly to the subway level at Don Mills Station. The modern electrically-powered light rail vehicles will operate in dedicated transit lanes, separated from traffic. Please review Background Information.

Agincourt Go Station - Detour Road
A detour road is being constructed through the south section of the GO parking lot in order to provide passage for vehicles during the planned grade separation of Sheppard Avenue and the Stouffville GO line. Public Notice (PDF).

Sewer System Upgrades – Dec 2009 to January 2010
In advance of the Light Rail Transit (LRT) construction the sewer system is being upgraded in the vicinity of the Scunthorpe Road and Sheppard Avenue East intersection. Please see the public notice (PDF).

Previous Public Notices
Markham Road and Sheppard Avenue East - Watermains
Starting on Saturday October 24th to Monday October 26th, the intersection of Sheppard Avenue East and Markham Road will undergo construction to upgrade watermains. Please see the Public Notice (PDF)
Watermain Construction in advance of LRT
Watermain and sewer upgrades are being coordinated in advance of LRT construction. Specific work started in mid September between Scunthorpe Road and Progress Avenue. Please see the Public Notice (PDF).
