October 4, 2010 – Archaeological Assessment: Stage 2 excavations at 6 SPS sites
A stage 2 Archaeological Assessment will be carried out in order to determine any archaeological potential in the immediate area around these sewage pumping stations, prior to their rehabilitation and upgrading. The assessment will take place for one day during the week of October 12, 2010. For more details, please view the individual notices for each site:

April 20-24, 2009 - Toronto Island Sewage Pumping Stations (SPS) Wet Well Leak Test,
component of the Toronto Island Sewage Pumping Stations Upgrade Project is a wet well leak test which is scheduled to take place during the week of April 20 24, 2009. Since the majority of residents and businesses on Wards and Algonquin Islands are connected to one of the 12 Sewage Pumping Stations, we ask for your cooperation in limiting your water use for six to seven hours while the testing occurs at the Sewage Pumping Station your residence/business is connected to. The Project
Toronto Water is undertaking a state of good repair project to rehabilitate and upgrade 12 Sewage Pumping Stations located on Wards and Algonquin Islands (see maps below). The rehabilitation and upgrades are necessary because the Sewage Pumping Stations’ equipment, instrumentation and controls are nearing the end of their service life.

Public Open House # 1
Public Open House #1 was held on Thursday, November 27, 2008 from 6:00pm to 8:30pm at the Algonquin Island Association Club House, 18 Wyandot Avenue, Algonquin Island. The Open House provided an opportunity for the public to learn about the project, project area considerations, project schedule and next steps.

Public Open House # 2 was held on Thursday, April 2, 2009 from 6:30pm to 8:30pm at the Algonquin Island Association Club House, 18 Wyandot Avenue, Algonquin Island to present information on the project purpose, anticipated project schedule, wet well leak test, design of the upgraded Sewage Pumping Station control panels and junction boxes and next steps.
