Watermain Replacement Program
Construction

This site was last updated on March 27, 2012

About the Program
The City has launched a Watermain Replacement Program to replace various distribution watermains across the City in 2010, 2011 and 2012. These watermains have been assigned a high priority for replacement due to factors such as a high breakage rate or to meet operational needs.

We will in most cases be replacing along with the watermain any water services that are found to be substandard. In a few cases we will also be replacing sections of storm and/or sanitary sewers.

What is happening in my neighbourhood?
Select your ward to find out what work is upcoming or currently underway in your neighbourhood and to view a copy of the Public and/or Construction Notice(s) that have been issued.

All Notices will be accompanied by a Lead Water Service Replacement Fact Sheet.  Please read the Fact Sheet carefully as it contains important information on replacement of lead pipes and potential health concerns.

Construction
Public/Construction Notices will be issued and road signage will be installed to provide residents with project details prior to the start of construction. Construction activities may include excavation of the roadway, sidewalks and/or boulevards, and may require fencing to be erected. Restoration within construction areas will be dealt with on a project by project basis.

Working with the community
The City of Toronto and its contractors are committed to communicating with you about upcoming activities and anticipated disruptions. If you have a question about the work being constructed or a concern about how it’s being carried out, please call the Communications Coordinator noted below during regular weekday hours.  The City has retained R.V.
