Proposed Amendments to the City of Toronto Municipal Code for changes to the Multi-Residential Billing System and Solid Waste Rates for bulk collection customers.
Notice is hereby given that City officials are recommending to Council of the City of Toronto the enactment of a by-law amending City of Toronto Municipal Code Chapter 441, Fees and Charges to revise the volume-based solid waste rate for Multi-Residential customers receiving bulk collection services, in the amounts of:

(1) The Solid Waste Rate includes the collection of garbage, recycling, yard waste, organics (where available), bulky items, electronics, white goods/metal items and household hazardous waste.
(2) The allowable amount of waste is based on 1.704 cubic yards of un-compacted waste per unit per year or 0.852 cubic yards of compacted waste per unit per year.
The annual rebate will be $175.00 per unit per year. The particulars of the proposed revised fees are set out in the report to the Public Works and Infrastructure Committee from the General Manager, Solid Waste Management Services, entitled "New Multi-Residential Billing System and Rates for Bulk Collection Customers" (the "Report").
While the Report sets out the recommended fee and rebates, the appropriate Committee may change these recommendations and Toronto City Council may adopt fees that differ from the recommendations, including fees that are higher or lower than the fees set out in the Report. If you wish to be advised of any changes recommended by the Committee, please refer to the decision documents posted on the City's website for the Public Works and Infrastructure Committee meeting referenced below or you can request copies of the decision documents from the City Clerk's office.
At its meeting to be held in Committee Room 1, 2nd floor, Toronto City Hall, 100 Queen Street West, on Tuesday, June 15, 2010, commencing at 9:30 a.m., the Public Works and Infrastructure Committee will hear any person who wishes to speak to the matter in person or by his or her counsel, agent or solicitor. It is proposed that recommendations from the Public Works and Infrastructure Committee will be considered by City Council on July 6, 2010.
