Proposed Changes to User Fees
The Council of the City of Toronto will be considering a proposal to pass by-laws to amend the City of Toronto Municipal Code Chapter 441, Fees, so as to adopt the changes to existing user fees and the new user fees that are proposed in the 2012 Recommended Operating Budget. The 2012 Recommended Operating Budget will be considered by City Council on January 17 to 19, 2012. The required by-laws will be before City Council at its meeting of February 6, 2012.
Attached to this notice is a listing of the changes to existing user fees (PDF) and new user fees (PDF) that are proposed in the 2012 Staff Recommended Operating Budget. It is noted that several of the fees are to adjust the user fees price to the nearest dollar to facilitate administrative efficiencies. These user fees apply to various programs throughout the City.
To obtain additional information or to ask questions about a proposed user fee change, please contact the staff person identified in the attached list as the Program Contact for the fee.
The Budget Committee of Toronto City Council will receive presentations from any person, or their counsel, agent or solicitor, who wishes to speak to the matter, on Wednesday, December 7, 2011, at 9:30 a.m. in Committee Room 1, Second floor, Toronto City Hall, 100 Queen Street West.

Any comments received after the Committee meeting will be processed to Council.
The Budget Committee will make its final recommendations on January 9, 2012, which will be forwarded for Executive Committee's consideration at its special meeting on January 12, 2012 and to City Council at its meeting on January 17 to 19, 2012.
If this matter is postponed at the Committee meeting or Council meeting or considered at a subsequent Committee meeting, no additional notice will be provided other than the information on the subsequent Committee or Council agenda. Please contact the above noted City official or the Program Contact noted on the list of fees if you require notice in these cases.
Notice to people writing or making presentations to the Budget Committee: The City of Toronto Act, 2006 and the City of Toronto Municipal Code authorize the City of Toronto to collect any personal information in your communication or presentation to City Council or its committees.
The City collects this information to enable it to make informed decisions on the relevant issue(s). If you are submitting letters, faxes, e-mails, presentations or other communications to the City, you should be aware that your name and the fact that you communicated with the City will become part of the public record and will appear on the City's website. The City will also make your communication and any personal information in it - such as your postal address, telephone number or e-mail address - available to the public, unless you expressly request the City to remove it.
The City videotapes committee and community council meetings. If you make a presentation to a committee or community council, the City will be videotaping you and City staff may make the video tapes available to the public.
