Proposed Amendments to the City of Toronto Municipal Code Chapter 441, Fees and Charges for User Fees Associated with issuing a new class of "Courier/Delivery Vehicle Parking Permit" to exempt appropriately licensed, insured, and identified courier/delivery vehicles from specific "No Parking" regulations for a maximum period of 30-minutes to enable the driver to complete a delivery or pick-up from a nearby premises
Notice is hereby given that City officials are recommending to the Public Works and Infrastructure the enactment of:
- (a) a by-law amending the City of Toronto Municipal Code Chapter 441, Fees and Charges, to set a fee for a courier/delivery vehicle parking permit, effective upon approval of the appropriate Set Fine Order in the amount of: $600.00 for a fiscal year for an individual vehicle permit; $5000.00 for a fiscal year for a fleet permit (maximum of 10 vehicles); and $500.00 per additional permit for a fiscal year in excess of 10-vehicles under the fleet permit. All permits are subject to applicable taxes, an automatic inflationary increase and the fee will be prorated quarterly based on the time of year when it is issued. An administration fee of $28.00 subject to applicable taxes and an automatic inflationary increase, will be charged to replace a lost/stolen permit or to re-issue a permit.
The particulars of the proposed permit fees for the use of a courier/delivery vehicle parking permit and the exemptions it affords the user are set out in the report to the Public Works and Infrastructure Committee from the General Manager, Transportation Services, entitled "Courier/Delivery Vehicle Parking Permit - Approval and Program Implementation" (the "Report").
While the Report indicates the recommended permit fee the Public Works and Infrastructure Committee may change this recommendation and Toronto City Council may adopt rates that differ from the recommendations, including fees that are higher or lower than the fees set out in the Report. If you wish to be advised of any changes recommended by the Public Works and Infrastructure Committee, please refer to the decision documents posted on the City's website for the Public Works and Infrastructure meeting referenced below or you can request copies of the decision documents from the City Clerk's office.
At its meeting to be held in Committee Room 1, 2nd Floor, Toronto City Hall, 100 Queen Street West, on Wednesday, January 4, 2012, commencing at 9:30 a.m., the Public Works and Infrastructure Committee will hear any person who wishes to speak to the matter in person or by his or her counsel, agent or solicitor. It is proposed that recommendations from the Public Works and Infrastructure Committee respecting the permit fee will be considered by City Council at its meeting on February 6 and 7, 2012.
