If crossing a picket line

If you experience what you suspect to be illegal activity or behaviour while attempting to cross a picket line, you may wish to contact the Police as appropriate and email as much detail as possible about the incident to the City. This information may be useful in helping the City to develop a legal response to these situations.

  • Remember the picketers have a lawful right to communicate information about the strike

  • Expect that there may be delays when crossing a picket line

  • Make your way through the line cautiously and courteously

  • Please avoid provocation or confrontation with picketers.

If you are driving

  • Be prepared for delays, especially if you need to cross the picket line in your vehicle

  • Avoid making left-hand turns into City of Toronto driveways and parking lots as this blocks traffic and causes traffic backups

  • Obey the regular traffic regulations and parking instructions.

When access is blocked

  • While it is unlawful for picketers to prevent you from crossing a picket line, don't jeopardize your safety or anyone else's in attempting to cross.
