                                         CITY OF TORONTO

                                       BY-LAW No. 559-1998

                      To amend City of Toronto By-law No. 133-1998, a by-law
                      To impose fees and charges for services and activities
                 provided or done by the Fire Department of the City of Toronto .

        The Council of The City of Toronto HEREBY ENACTS as follows:

        1.     By-law No. 133-1998, a by-law "To impose fees and charges for services and
activities provided or done by the Fire Department of the City of Toronto , is amended by:

               (a)     deleting in clause 1(b)  any interest payable pursuant to section 7 and ;

               (b)     deleting section 7;

               (c)     deleting in section 8  , plus any interest that may have accrued on the
                       outstanding balance under section 7, ;

               (d)     changing the reference to  section 7  in sections 9 and 10 to  section 8 ;

               (e)     adding subsection 11(3) which reads: 

                        The Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer of the City shall add to the
                       unpaid fee for services and charges to be added to the tax roll under
                       subsection 11(1) interest at the rate of fifteen per cent (15%) per year in
                       a like manner as provided for municipal taxes. 

               (f)     adding at the end of subsection 13(3)  within the previous twelve (12)
                       month period .

        2.     The amendments set out in Section 1 shall be retroactive to April 16, 1998, the
date By-law No. 133-1998 was adopted by Council.

        ENACTED AND PASSED this 31st  day of  July, A.D. 1998.
