Confirmation of Minutes

On motion by Councillor Grimes, the Minutes of the meetings of the Economic Development Committee held on April 22, 2009 and April 23, 2009, were confirmed.

The Economic Development Committee:

 

1.         thanked Greg Clark and Professor Richard Florida for their presentations and received the item for information;

 

2.         requested the General Manager of Economic Development, Culture and Tourism to report to the Committee as soon as possible on the creative stimulus suggested; and

 

3.         requested the General Manager of Economic Development, Culture and Tourism to organize a Service Sector Summit with the unions, universities and corporations, to emphasize the importance of the service sector in stimulating the economy. 

The Economic Development Committee is holding a special meeting to which all Members of Council and the public are encouraged to attend, to brainstorm and develop strategies to improve Toronto’s economic advantage and minimize the economic impact of the current recession.
