The Licensing and Standards Committee:

 

1.         referred the report (May 21, 2009) on Review of Mobile Catering (Coffee Truck) Licensing to the Executive Director, Municipal Licensing and Standards with requests to review and report further on the possibility of reciprocal licensing arrangements with other Greater Toronto area municipalities and on the replacement of coffee truck drivers; and

 

2.         requested the Director, Court Services, to review issues raised with respect to Tribunal operations, specifically timelines for matters appearing before the Tribunal, the length of time for final decisions to be made and the number of hearings held.

Fairness Protocol for Removal of Street Vendors
Decision Advice and Other Information

The Licensing and Standards Committee:

 

1.         referred the letter (July 10, 2008) from Councillor Howard Moscoe to the Executive Director, Municipal Licensing and Standards for consideration and report back to the Committee no later than October 8, 2009;

 

2.         replaced Recommendation 6 in the letter (July 10, 2008) from Councillor Moscoe with the following paragraph:

 

"6.        For the purpose of this protocol, the freeze on vending locations in the downtown area does not apply to displaced vendors presently vending within this zone, so long as it does not increase the total number of vending locations within the downtown area."; and

 

3.         requested the Executive Director, Municipal Licensing and Standards, in consultation with the City Solicitor, to include in his forthcoming report a review of the process for the City rescinding and not renewing street vending permits on an annual basis.
