Litter audits

Results of Toronto's 2006 litter audit

In 2002, the City of Toronto established a litter reduction goal of 50% for the period of 2002 to 2007 and mandated litter audits be done on an annual basis. In 2006 litter was reduced by 40% from 2002. Progress can be attributed to collection and enforcement enhancements that were put in place. More details, including information on the measurement of branded litter, are provided in the full, final report "The City of Toronto Streets Litter Audit 2006" (PDF).
