Waste Less

You’re already doing your part to divert waste. In fact, from January to August 2007 we sent 74 truck loads per day of solid waste to the Michigan landfill, down from 142 in the same period in 2003. And there’s lots of room for improvement.

The City of Toronto has an aggressive goal to divert 70% of its waste from landfill.

At the June 20, 2007 City Council meeting, Council approved a new plan to achieve this diversion goal, including a new funding system, the volume-based rate structure, to pay for the required additional programs and services.
