Education
At Toronto Long-Term Care Homes and Services, we believe in the value of education and in the creation of high-achieving, learning environments – for staff, volunteers, residents and families. Knowledge increases our ability to solve problems, explore ideas and issues, build trust, create effective teams and create solutions. Through education, we draw on each other’s culture, experiences, expectations and knowledge to make improvements.

Long-Term Care Homes and Services also publishes a series of brochures entitled Just for Clients, Just for Families and Just for Residents – that provide important information for residents, family, people living in supportive housing or receiving services in the community co-ordinated by LTC Homes and Services. You will find them in our homes at the family communication centre. Each brochure provides information about a particular aspect of aging or long-term care.

In our adult day programs and supportive housing locations, staff provides a series of health promotion and educational events for clients. Look for posters of these events in the adult day program or supportive housing location – or ask our staff about the schedule. If you have an idea, let them know.

In addition, Long-Term Care Homes and Services sponsors inter-home family education events (with guest speakers) at least twice yearly (spring and fall), based on topics of interest submitted by families.
