All engineering survey and design work done for Technical Services in the City of Toronto must adhere to design specifications and graphic specifications as outlined by various sections in the Division. These sections are listed below:

• Survey & Mapping – Engineering Surveys
• Design & Construction – Linear Infrastructure
• Design & Construction – Major Works Facilities

Technical Services has recently standardized the CADD platform and uses the Bentley suite of software products for drafting and design. MicroStation v8i is the drafting component and InRoads v8i is the design component of the suite. All provisional and final design submissions to Technical Services must adhere to the Bentley format.

Design Specifications and Graphic Specifications
There are two (2) components to the Technical Services CADD Standards and Specifications, these being:

• Design Specifications define project preparation, survey capture techniques, design methodology & work flows and project deliverables. Versioning of design specifications is loosely implemented.

• Graphic Specifications define the level structure, cell designations, line styles, text & dimensioning styles and other attributes for the graphic representation in digital (MicroStation design file) and paper (plot) format. Versioning of graphic specifications is strictly implemented.
