Private Property Surveys
A survey is a dimensioned plan of someone’s property. This includes the property line locations and dimensions. It also includes any fixed structures on the property (ie. buildings, fences, retaining walls etc.).
The City of Toronto does not provide its professional surveying services to the public, nor does it have records (copies) of surveys for distribution to the public.
New survey
If you require a new survey, a private surveying firm can provide you with this service. Private surveying firms can be found::
-
in the Yellow pages under “Surveyors – Land,” or
-
by browsing the Association of Ontario Land Surveyors list of members via their website.
The Association of Ontario Land Surveyors can also provide general information on surveying and the types of services provided by Ontario Land Surveyors, they can be reached at 416-491-9020 or 1-800-268-0718.
The City of Toronto does sell maps that show property lines and topographic features, similar to features that are shown in a plan of survey; however, these maps do not replace the need for a legal survey of land.
