Utilities that are applying to the City of Toronto for a cut utility permit can obtain base mapping from Survey and Mapping Services of the Technical Services Division. The base mapping will include topographic, property, water, sewer, street name, and municipal addresses.
Utility companies that have entered into a landbase agreement with the City are provided with the complete base mapping on a bi-annual frequency. Utilities with current landbase agreements need not approach Survey & Mapping Services for any additional mapping information.
Utility companies that do not have a landbase agreement in place are subject to a fee of $90 per linear kilometre with a minimum of $250 per data request. The utility company will provide contact information, project location, mapping specifications and delivery method via the Utility Cut Mapping Request Form.
The online request will generate an email to Survey and Mapping Services, and staff will assign a unique order number to the request. An email reply will be forwarded to the utility company acknowledging the request. The email will also provide the order number and the City data release form (in PDF format) for completion by the utility company.
The Utility Cut Mapping Request Order Number should be submitted by the utility company as part of the subsequent permit application and referenced in the permit drawing.
All requests will be fulfilled within a full business day.
