Volunteers Needed for 2011 Good Food Market
A fresh food market and flea market is coming to Malvern in late June and will run to late August, but we need your help! If you are interested in helping Malvern ANC and residents organize such a marketplace contact Alex Dow at 416-284-6005 ext36 or adow@mfrc.org.
Free youth and family support counselling
Malvern Family Resource Centre provides free confidential counselling services for youth ages 12-24 and their families in the Rouge River Riding. Our Youth Support Counsellor helps youth to better deal with every day issues through individual or group sessions and/or one-on-one mentoring, for those who may need additional guidance. Some of the areas that clients may seek support in may include: parent/youth communication, stress and anxiety, relationships, grief and loss, family violence, bullying, goal-setting, self-esteem, depression, anger, abuse and trauma. Learn to Sew with Us
The Alliance Of Guyanese Canadian Organization in Partnership with the City of Toronto is offering classes to help you learn to sew your own clothes. Beginners, Intermediates and Advance sewing classes at Burrows Hall Community Centre, 1081 Progress Ave. (Sheppard and Progress Ave., one light east of Markham Rd.) Scarborough YMCA Teen Nites
For one Saturday night a month the gym, pool, conditioning room and youth zone will be open for free to all youth. There will also be hip hop dance classes, volleyball, basketball, yoga, and more! Non-members are welcome! Please bring school identification to Teen Nite to qualify. Open to all youth (ages 13-18) on June 25th, July 30th, August 27th from 7:30pm-10pm at Scarborough YMCA at 230 Town Centre Court. TDSB at the CNE - August 30th, 2011
The TDSB is partnering with the CNE to host a spectacular kick off to the 2011-12 school year and provide an engaging, inspiring, educational and fun day for our students, families and staff. Elementary and secondary students will receive free admission to the CNE for TDSB Day and there will be a discounted cost for families and staff.
This all-day event will include music, entertainment, contests, giveaways and more! In addition to the stage events, TDSB guests can test their strength against the CNE strongman, enjoy discounted rides, stroll through the TDSB Student Art Show or the TDSB Student Film Festival and wander through the CNE’s Animal Farm. Join the Resident Reflection 2011 Organizing Committee
The United Way of Toronto and Malvern Action for Neighbourhood Change are looking for a dedicated resident volunteer to join the planning committee and represent the Malvern for the Resident Reflection 2011 Conference in November.
Resident Reflection is an annual, all-day event that brings together resident and community leaders from the 13 Priority Neighbourhoods for learning and networking opportunities. Part of your role will also be to communicate back to Malvern ANC staff and residents updates regarding the conference and potentially organize residents to get involved in the different aspects of the day. Meetings are held the 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month. If you are interested in being a part of the group please contact Andrea at 416-777-1444 ext281.
