Nathan Phillips Square is a vibrant, active space in the heart of the city. Every year, over 1.5 million visitors attend a variety of community and special events hosted on the Square.

In order to meet the needs of tomorrow and host a greater number and variety of activities and special events, the City of Toronto is revitalizing its premier public space with new features.

  • new skate pavilion and concession at the southwest corner of the Square will provide skate rental and changeroom space, skating rink support facilities, a food concession, new public washrooms and a generous upper level roof terrace for residents and visitors to take in the panoramic view of the Square.

  • A new restaurant located at the southwest corner of the Square will offer dining facing onto the landscaped forecourt off Queen Street West, an oudoor seasonal patio and terrace dining, and access to the adjacent overhead walkway and public roof terrace.

  • A versatile new theatre stage with an elegant roof canopy, wide stairs leading to the elevated walkway and performance support space below grade.
