Ski & Snowboard Leadership Programs

Ski Instructor Preparation (13 yrs+)

Prerequisite: Ski Step 6 or equivalent experience.
If you are interested in volunteering or becoming a certified ski instructor with the Canadian Ski Instructor Alliance this program is perfect. Increase your technical knowledge while receiving individual feedback on your skiing performance to ensure you are at certification standards. Successful participants of this course are encouraged to volunteer, only those 15yrs+ are eligible for the certification course with CSIA in accordance with their policies.

Snowboard Instructor Preparation (13 yrs+)

Prerequisite: Snowboard Step 5 or equivalent experience.
If you are interested in volunteering or becoming a certified snowboard instructor with the Canadian Association of Snowboard Instructors this program is perfect. Increase your technical knowledge while receiving individual feedback on your snowboarding performance to ensure you are at certification standards. Successful participants of this course are encouraged to volunteer, only those 15yrs+ are eligible for the certification course with CASI in accordance with their policies.

Racing Development Program

Racing programs are non-competitive programs, designed to enhance technical skills, posture, speed control, confidence and fun.

  • Participants must have own ski equipment including Helmet.
  • Strong parallel skiers only.
  • Use of all other racing gear is optional.
  • All programs are taught by Canadian Ski Coaches Federation (CSCF) coaches.
  • Ski improvement in a training format with lots of mileage (ski time).
  • Program time includes slalom set-up/clean-up with active assistance for participants.

Junior Introduction to Racing (7-9 yrs)

Prerequisite: Ski Step 6 or equivalent experience.
This program is designed for young skiers in their advanced stage of skiing. Focus will be on racing stance, balance, edging, and early turn initiation in (GS) Slalom course.

Beginner Racing (9 yrs+)

Prerequisite: Ski Step 6 or equivalent experience.
This program is designed for skiers in their advanced stage of skiing. Focus will be on racing stance, balance, edging, and rollerblade turns in (GS) Slalom course.

Intermediate Racing (9 yrs+)

Prerequisite: Completion of Beginner Racing at Centennial or equivalent experience.
Focus will be on further development of racing skills. Element of start techniques and introduction to gate training will be covered.

Advanced Racing (9 yrs+)

Prerequisite: Completion of Intermediate Racing at Centennial or equivalent experience.
Focus will be on gate attack, slalom memorization, knowledge of various slalom set-ups and racing tactics.

Freestyle Ski & Snowboard Programs

Our freestyle programs provide a learning environment in which riders can develop their skills at an individualized pace with their instructor. A focus on core freestyle principles used in slope style competition are emphasized through rider and skier development in order to obtain maximum results when using a terrain park. Additionally, carved turns, advanced steering, and movements to control stability and balance will be introduced and developed.

The improvement of height, safety and awareness of movement is developed through the introduction of aerial manoeuvres and flat land and rail tricks. Skills that will be introduced and further developed include: straight airs, airs with rotation, grabs and style, rails, boxes, and flat land tricks.

Prerequisite: Ski Step 5/Snowboard Step 4.

Note: All participants will be assessed on skiing/snowboarding skills. Only those who meet minimum requirements will be permitted to continue with the program. Please note that rentals are NOT available for this program.

Discover Skiing & Snowboarding

A one-time lesson for the ultimate beginner to explore the sport of either skiing or snowboarding. This two hour package will teach the basics and include an introduction on how to use the carpet lift.

  • Two-hour group lesson.
  • Maximum six people per group
  • Minimum of 8 years of age
  • Includes snowpass, rental equipment and lesson by a certified instructor
  • $43/person

How to Register for Discover

Centennial Park Snow Centre will begin taking Discover lesson bookings starting December 19. Register by phone (416-394-8753). Registration is done on a first-come, first-serve basis and is subject to our pre-set Discover package schedule.

Specialized Adult Ski & Snowboard Programs (18 yrs+)

Adults Learn-To-Snowboard: Beginner

Meet other people while learning how to snowboard in our new 2 hour beginner lesson. Classes are for first-time snowboarders and those who have tried a few times.

Adult Learn-To-Snowboard: Intermediate

This is a program for adults 18 years+. Improve your snowboarding technique while developing your skills in our new 2 hour intermediate snowboard lesson.
Current ability: able to link 6-8 novice turns, full use of carpet lift with snowboard on.

Adult Learn-To-Ski: Beginner

This two hour lesson is offered in the afternoon and evening. Designed for beginner skiers and those who can snowplow turn.

Adult Learn-To-Ski: Intermediate/Advanced

This 2 hour lesson is offered in the afternoon and evening. Designed for the parallel skier or person that has successfully completed Adult Learn-To-Ski: Beginner program at Centennial Park.

Women’s Exclusive Ski

This is a program for women 18 years+. It is geared for the beginner, intermediate and advanced skier wanting to improve her skiing while enjoying the company of others during the evening.

Private Lessons

Private lessons are available for skiing (3 yrs+) and snowboarding (6 yrs+).

  • One Hour Lesson: $64/person
  • Each Additional Skier/Snowboarder: $32/person/hour
  • Ski/Snowboard Rentals (as required): $19/person/hour

Private Lesson Bookings

Private lessons will be booked using the same method as Fall/Winter program registrations starting September 10 (September 20 for non-residents). You can register online, by phone, by TTR or in person. When you book your lessons you have booked for one person. If you would like to make this a semi-private lesson (participants must be same age and same ability level), please contact the facility after November 1 to make arrangements.
You must attend a Lesson Tag Pick-up & Rental Fitting Day (see page 80). The additional fees will be paid at the time of the changes. City of Toronto practice for withdrawals, refunds and credits applies to private lesson registrations.
