What types of planning applications are not available?
We have excluded these applications/studies/appeals because they do not have detailed project data:
  • Minor Variance and Consent
  • Interim Control By-Laws
  • City-initiated studies
  • Ontario Municipal Board
  • Temporary Structures

Do I need to fill-in every search box for a query?
No. Use one, some or all of the fields for your query.

Which address can I query?
You can query any municipal address including primary, structure and entrance addresses. If your query doesn't work try the street name only and leave the street number blank.

Can I change the default date range?
Yes. The start date can be any date from January 1, 2006 onward. The end date can be any date up to the current date, less 7 days. The lag time allows time for staff to update the information before the application appears in the web application. Therefore new planning applications will appear in the web application 8 calendar days after they were submitted at the Customer Services Counter.

How do I allow pop-up pages?
You need to allow pop-up pages to go pages that explain how to search and the planning application approval status. Please change Internet Explorer internet settings by:
  • Clicking on "Tools" on the menu bar and selecting "Internet Options"
  • Clicking on "Pop-up Blocker" and selecting "Turn Off Pop-up Blocker"
How can I print?
Click on the Print Report button at the bottom of the page and a list of all results will appear in a new window. Before you print, click "File" on the menu bar and select "Page set-up" and change the orientation to "landscape".

How do I print alternating row colours?

  • Selecting the "Advanced" tab at the top of page
  • Scrolling down the list to the Print section and check-mark the option, "Print background colors and images"
Can I export the list of results into a spreadsheet?
Click on the Export Report button at the bottom of the page and the list of results will be exported to a spreadsheet. You have the option of saving the spreadsheet to your computer.

Why can't I print or export reports an "All Districts" or "All Wards" query?
A Query which generates a list of well over 1,000 of applications can not be printed or exported into a report because it takes too long to generate these reports and it times-out. As a consequence, the print or export report function has been disabled (greyed-out) only for an All Districts or All Wards query.

How is a Development Project different from a Planning Application?
A Development Project is a summary of the planning application activity on a property. There could be more than 1 planning application submitted on a property. You can get a list of the planning applications related to a Development Project by clicking the hyper-link on the application number. A query of Planning Applications will show a list of all planning applications on a property.

Why doesn't this application show up?
Only applications submitted after January 1, 2006 will appear in the web application. Try a query in either Development Applications or Planning Applications to find an application.

How current is the information?
The information displayed is the latest information recorded in IBMS, which is where the information is stored. Updates to the information will appear in the web application the next day because IBMS is updated once every night.

Why are the figures missing for some planning applications?
If there are several planning applications on a property, the figures will be shown for the main application. There are no figures shown for related applications to avoid over counting floor space.

What does a Status Date of Jan 1, 3000 mean?
This means that the proposal has reached the Project Status or Application Status indicated, but we do not yet know the exact date that this occurred. This date is "temporary" and will be updated once the precise date is determined from the City’s records.
