The Niagara area, roughly bounded by Bathurst Street, King Street West, Shaw Street and the CN Weston (Georgetown) rail corridor, is experiencing significant incremental change, mostly through the conversion of industrial buildings and lands to residential developments. City Council has directed staff to review the built form and density policies and the transportation requirements of the area.

    Next Steps

City Planning has drafted the proposed new zoning by-law. The proposed changes are in keeping with the principles outlined at the community meeting in June, 2005. The proposed new zoning by-law will be discussed at the April 4th meeting of the Toronto and East York Community Council, in Committee Room 1 on the second floor of City Hall, located at 100 Queen Street West.

Local residents, tenants and landowners are invited to provide written comments or speak on the matter at Community Council. Written comments should be sent to the Clerk's office, at: clerk@toronto.ca

Prior to the hearing, if you have questions about the proposed changes to the zoning by-law, please contact the Niagara Team at: niagara@toronto.ca

One of the planners, urban designers and transportation engineers on the Team can answer your more detailed questions.
