"Beta Sigma Phi Week"

April 22 to 27, 2002

WHEREAS: Beta Sigma Phi, which signifies Life, Learning and Friendship, has approximately 250,000 members in 12,500 chapters in 30 countries around the world with many of them in the Toronto area; and
WHEREAS: this year, members of Beta Sigma Phi in the Greater Toronto Area will be celebrating their 71st anniversary; and
WHEREAS: members work for every known charitable, health and cultural agency, hold fund-raising events and donate their time and efforts to provide assistance to those in need.
NOW,
THEREFORE: I, Mayor Mel Lastman, on behalf of Toronto City Council and the 2.5 million people of our great City, do hereby proclaim April 22 to 27, 2002 as "Beta Sigma Phi Week" in the City of Toronto, to recognize the valuable service and outstanding contribution all Beta Sigma Phi members make to our community.
