"Cabbagetown Cultural Festival Week"
September 2 to 8, 2002
| WHEREAS: |
for the past 26 years, Old Cabbagetown has hosted its annual Festival that attracts over 100,000 visitors and tourists to one of Toronto's oldest and most unique neighbourhoods; and |
| WHEREAS: |
Cabbagetown is a vibrant community with a small-town atmosphere in the middle of our busy city, and this Festival celebrates the pride small business owners show in their traditions and accomplishments and the spirit of this unique and eclectic community; and
|
| WHEREAS: |
the wide variety of events and activities planned for the week, including a grand parade and street fair, arts and craft show, musicians, outdoor patios and other festival favourites, can be enjoyed by people of all ages, from all backgrounds and walks of life; and
|
| WHEREAS: |
people who are interested in learning more about this community and appreciate its glorious Victorian architecture, can join in a walking historical tour of the area and the Tour of Homes. |

| THEREFORE: |
I, Mayor Mel Lastman, on behalf of Toronto City Council and the 2.5 million people of our great City, do hereby proclaim September 2 to 8, 2002 as "Cabbagetown Cultural Festival Week" in the City of Toronto, and encourage everyone to participate in the many activities planned to celebrate this exciting event. |
