"Drug Awareness Week"

November 17 - 23, 2002

WHEREAS: there are risks associated with alcohol and other drug use which can lead to problems for individuals, families, businesses and communities; and
WHEREAS: research indicates that the prevention of these problems can be increased when communities come together to address ways of reducing the risks; and
WHEREAS: during this week, Drug Awareness Committees will highlight the many ways communities can make a difference with regard to alcohol and drug use, with increased public awareness being the first step in community building.
NOW,
THEREFORE: I, Mayor Mel Lastman, on behalf of Toronto City Council and the 2.5 million people of our great City, do hereby proclaim November 17 - 23, 2002 as "Drug Awareness Week" in the City of Toronto.
