"Easter Seal Month"
March, 2002
| WHEREAS: |
for the past 80 years The Easter Seal Society of Ontario has helped children, youth and young adults with physical disabilities reach their highest level of independence; and |
| WHEREAS: |
over 8,000 families rely on Easter Seals to purchase expensive equipment that is needed for mobility and communication, send kids to summer programs, provide access to information and programs and provide money for research and prevention; and |
| WHEREAS: |
The Easter Seal Society continues to find ways to empower children, youth and young adults with physical disabilities through programs and services that help them to reach their individual potential by "creating solutions - changing lives"; and |
| WHEREAS: |
through a network of community partners, volunteers, parents and donors, Easter Seals touches every community. Its most important initiative is the annual fundraising campaign that provides communities with an opportunity to become involved and help to make a difference in many lives. |
| NOW, |
| THEREFORE: |
I, Mayor Mel Lastman, on behalf of Toronto City Council and the 2.5 million people of our great City, do hereby proclaim March 2002 as "Easter Seal Month" in the City of Toronto and encourage everyone to support Easter Seals during this year's fundraising campaign. |
