"Green Ribbon of Hope"
May 2002
| WHEREAS: |
children are our most precious and valuable resource and it is our responsibility to protect, nurture and care for them; and |
| WHEREAS: |
the safe and healthy development of children is critical to our future. The formative years of a child's life are crucial in determining their later health, happiness and success; and |
| WHEREAS: |
Child Find Ontario together with many skilled and dedicated people and organizations provide the necessary emotional and physical needs to families of missing, lost, runaway and abducted children; and |
| WHEREAS: |
through hard work, dedication and commitment, there are many happy endings that restore our faith and remind us of the inspiring adage, 'it takes a whole village to raise a child'. |
| NOW, |
| THEREFORE: |
I, Mayor Mel Lastman, on behalf of Toronto City Council and the 2.5 million people of our great City, do hereby proclaim the month of May 2002 as "Green Ribbon of Hope" and May 25, 2002 as "National Missing Children's Day". Let us celebrate the importance of children, honour the
responsibilities of families and recognize the work of those who serve to protect children and families. |
