"Toronto Hadassah-WIZO Bazaar Day"

October 23, 2002

WHEREAS: each year the Hadassah-WIZO Bazaar offers thousands of shoppers and bargain hunters an incredible selection of new and slightly used merchandise at prices unheard of anywhere else in Toronto; and
WHEREAS: now in its 78th year, this much-anticipated Toronto tradition has earned the reputation as the "World's Largest One-Day Sale"; and
WHEREAS: this is not just an unforgettable shopping experience it also serves as a major fund-raising event for the Hadassah-WIZO Organization of Canada, which supports health, social welfare and education programs in Israel; and
WHEREAS: the Hadassah-WIZO Organization, with membership locations in forty-three Canadian cities, is also dedicated to enriching the lives of people in our Jewish community and promoting Canadian ideals of democracy.
NOW,
THEREFORE: I, Mayor Mel Lastman, on behalf of Toronto City Council and the 2.5 million people of our great City, do hereby proclaim October 23, 2002 as "Hadassah-WIZO Bazaar Day" in the City of Toronto. I congraultate and thank the organizers and many volunteers involved with this important fundraiser, and wish everyone attending the bazaar a successful shopping spree.
