"Public Library Week"

October 21 to 27, 2002

WHEREAS: the Toronto Public Library provides an essential service to all residents of our city by supplying access to a wide variety of information that improves and enriches our quality of life; and
WHEREAS: Internet access is provided in all 98 Toronto Public Library branches, and this access to information is necessary for economic growth and renewal, personal empowerment and enrichment of the human spirit; and
WHEREAS: the 2002 Public Library Week programs are highlighted in What's On, the program and service guide for Toronto Public Library.
NOW,
THEREFORE: I, Mayor Mel Lastman, on behalf of Toronto City Council and the 2.5 million people of our great City, do hereby proclaim October 21 to 27, 2002 as "Public Library Week" and encourage everyone to use the public library during this week and throughout the year.
