October 5, 2002

WHEREAS: ostomy surgery, which is done because of birth defects, Crohn's disease or Ulcerative Colitis, and for some forms of cancer, has enabled thousands of Canadians to lead full and productive lifestyles; and

NOW,
THEREFORE: I, Mayor Mel Lastman, on behalf of Toronto City Council and the 2.5 million people of our great City, do hereby proclaim October 5, 2002 as "World Ostomy Day" in the City of Toronto.

[Signed Mayor Mel Lastman]
