Proclamation
"Boys and Girls Clubs Week"
August 9 - 13, 2004

WHEREAS: the health and well-being of children and youth are our responsibility, and by helping them to meet daily challenges and opportunities we guarantee their success in life.
The Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Toronto work with many children and youth that are faced with new challenges and situations every day.
Children's abilities, self-esteem and dreams can be nurtured through the provision of supportive programs, and a healthy and stimulating environment that contributes to their future development.
Boys and Girls Clubs program staff are planning joint activities for that week with a special "Unity Day" with all Clubs participating in a fun filled day that will bring together between 500 and 1,000 children.
NOW,
THEREFORE: I, Mayor David Miller, on behalf of Toronto City Council, do hereby proclaim August 9 - 13, 2004, as "Boys and Girls Clubs Week" to recognize the commitment and tireless efforts of staff and volunteers who are dedicated to making a difference in the lives of our children.

[Signed Mayor David Miller]
