Oscar Peterson is one of the world's great musicians, whose artistry at the piano combines passion and virtuosity. |

Oscar Peterson is a legend in jazz, who for six decades has brought lustre to its rich traditions. |
|
Oscar Peterson has excelled as a soloist, accompanist, and composer, and as the leader of several trios which established the benchmark of small-group excellence. |
|
Oscar Peterson has received the highest international awards and accolades, and brought honour to our city and country as jazz ambassador to the world. |

| THEREFORE: |
I, Mayor David Miller, on behalf of Toronto City Council, do hereby proclaim June 22, 2004 as "Oscar Peterson Day" in the City of Toronto, to recognize and celebrate a remarkable man, his incomparable music and his many notable achievements. |
