Tips for the application form
General
When filling in your application form, please remember it should be easy to copy and read:
- use dark ink and clear font or printing
- print on white 8.5 x 11 paper
- a staple or clip is fine, but do not have it bound as we must take it apart to copy it
- you can expand the space to answer each question, but please be concise
- you are welcome to add a skills summary such as a resume or CV, please be brief and relevant
Contact information
We use contact information to arrange interviews and let you know who is appointed to the board - it is up to you to give us the best ways of getting hold of you.
If you will be away in the new year, you may want to note the dates and any alternate contact information on the form.
Eligibility and qualifications
If you're not sure why we ask a question, check the board qualifications and eligibility.
Show how you are qualified - e.g. don't just claim you have similar experience, say what it is.
Expand the space on the form if you need to, but try to be concise.
Attachments
A summary of qualifications such as a short relevant CV, resume of experience, etc. is welcome but please remember the nominating panel reads a lot of applications.
Be selective and to the point - a 30 page publications list may not be read with attention!
Send it in with dark ink on white paper.
Sending it in
Send it with all attachments just one way if you can - not by fax and mail and e-mail - we don't know what version to keep and anything submitted after the deadline cannot be used.
Leave yourself time - if you forget a page or fax does not all come through and it is near the deadline, you may not realize in time.
Return the completed application form as listed at the top of the application for the specific board.
Note:
- e-mailed applications do not need to be signed - you can sign it at your interview if you have one.
- Keep in mind that sending personal information by fax is not a secure means of transmission so you may wish to return your form by mail, e-mail or in person to the address shown on the application form.
