HHW Reuse Centres at the City’s Household Hazardous Waste Depot
Cleaning out the garage and not sure what to do with leftover paint or cleaning products? Looking for supplies for a home improvement project? At your local Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Depot, residents can donate useable but unwanted HHW materials, including oil and latex paint. The staff sort the donations to determine which materials are reusable and set those aside for other residents to pick up – for free.
Typically, half-full cans of oil and latex paint are put into an area residents can look through. Sometimes other materials that are nearly new, such as automotive products or cleaners, are also available.
The HHW Reuse Centres are located at the Bermondsey, Disco, Ingram, and Scarborough Transfer Stations with the same operating hours as the HHW depots. You can also take your leftover paint to (or pick up paint from) the paint exchange operating at your local Community Environment Day. These events, which run from April through September, are the local way to donate or reuse unwanted paints and household products.
