Event Locations and Neighbourhood Lights

Throughout the holiday season, brilliant creations of light will beautify the city as neighbourhoods and tourist attractions participate in the Cavalcade of Lights festival.

Albion Islington BIA

Cavalcade of Lights and "Toy Drive"

Capitalizing on the long history of the area, the 16 foot tall violet Canadian Thistle accentuates the four corners of the renewed energy of the local market place and is a symbol for the area's re-emergence.

Celebrate first lighting on Saturday, November 26, 2011 at 7pm with the official ceremony at the south east corner of Albion Road and Islington Avenue. Hot beverages and snacks will be served

We are requesting for New or Fairly used toys for the "Toy Drive".
"Toy Drive" will start from November 26th to Dec. 20th. You can drop off your toys at 925 Albion Road Suite 100, Etobicoke or JJ Hairstylist Hair care and Laser Centre, 2627 Islington Avenue, Etobicoke. Hot beverages and snacks will be served.

Getting There

This vibrant commercial area is located along Albion Road from Lund Avenue to west of John Grubb Court; north of Calstock Drive to Albion West Plaza and Islington Avenue north of Sandhill Drive to the Bell Canada building; north of Thistletown Multi Service Centre grounds to south of Wardlaw Cres.



Bloor Yorkville BIA

Bloor-Yorkville Holiday Magic

On Saturday, November 19, as part of Toronto's Cavalcade of Lights celebration, the lights in the Bloor-Yorkville neighbourhood will be switched on in a dazzling display. Families and friends are invited to the Official Lighting Ceremony in the Village of Yorkville Park (Cumberland Street and Bellair Street) to watch the area come to life with Holiday Magic!

The festivities, which start at 5 p.m., will include an exciting performance by Juno-Winning jazz and blues artist “MOLLY JOHNSON”, who has earned her reputation as one of Canada's greatest voices! Before and after the lights come on, visitors can also stroll through Bloor-Yorkville and take in the animated storefront windows, enchanting displays and charming decorations, while enjoying free hot beverages and refreshments.

Getting There

The Bloor-Yorkville BIA extends from Avenue Road to Church Street, plus south to Charles Street West and north to Scollard Street.

Church Wellesley Village BIA

Lights and Celebration

Join us in the Village for a season of holiday illuminations that will light up Church Street from November 20th to January 5th. Look for energy efficient LED lighting displays along the Church Street corridor from Wood to Gloucester Street including beautifully decorated Hydro pole installations, various holiday trees and stunning merchant displays. Come and celebrate World Aids Day on December 1st in the Village’s Cawthra Park with the lighting of the Red Ribbon Display followed by the annual World Aids Day ceremony presented at the 519 Community Centre.

Getting There

The Church Wellesley Village B.I.A. extends from north of Wood Street up to south of Gloucester Street. Getting there is easy. Take the Toronto Transit Yonge subway line to Wellesley Station and turn east upon leaving the station or get off at College Station and make your way north on Yonge Street turning right (east) onto Alexander or Wellesley Street.

Downtown Yonge BIA

lluminite Event

Live music, entertainment and a fire pyrotechnics show by the renowned Circus Orange, kick-off the winter holiday lighting season in Downtown Yonge on November 19th. An expected 15,000 people crowd Yonge-Dundas Square from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. to take part in the Illuminite event. The grand finale highlights the ceremonial lighting of the 45 foot-high sculptural tree that features over 52,000 LED lights. The popular trio of 3D polar bears and other breathtaking holiday light installations are also lit, filling Downtown Yonge with holiday warmth.

Illuminte is one of five signature Winter Magic events that transform Downtown Yonge into a winter playground every year. Visitors enjoy the dazzling holiday décor and lighting while exploring the broad range of retail, restaurants and entertainment venues in the area.

Getting There

Downtown Yonge is located at the heart of downtown Toronto and easily accessible by three TTC subway stations: College, Dundas and Queen.



Emery Village BIA

First Lighting

Look for a custom 30 ft blue LED light Christmas Tree with Red LED Maple Leafs and Seasons Greetings from Emery Village at the bottom of the tree.

Enjoy LED lit garlands along the railing at the intersection as well as Christmas banners on the poles. The large boulevard trees along the four corners of the intersection will all be lit in white LED tree lights.

Celebrate the first lighting Sunday, November 27th at 6pm inside at the Carmine Stefano Community Centre. The lighting takes place at the intersection of Sheppard Avenue and Weston Road.

Korea Town BIA

Tiger Lighting Light-up

Korea Town Business Improvement Area (Korea Town BIA) has constructed Tiger Lighting in commemoration of its establishment in 2004. This tiger is a symbolic guardian of well-being and prosperity for the community. It represents Jujak (a symbol of the god in charge of the south), Hyunmoo (a symbol of the god in charge of the north), Chungryong (a symbol of the god in charge of the east), and Baekho(a symbol of the god in charge of the west) - four legendary beasts who are guarding the four corners, of the earth.

Little Italy

Lights and Celebration

Look for these energy efficient LED lighting displays including three illuminated angels, in colour combinations of red, blue and green, each over three metres in length, are suspended on high above Lombardi Square (College and Grace Streets)

Celebrate the first lighting of Little Italy at a free public event on Thursday, November 24.

Getting There

Head along College Street between Euclid Street and Shaw Street.

Getting there is easy! Take the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) Yonge subway line (exit College) then take the 506 bus to College and Euclid Streets.



Rosedale BIA

First Lighting

On Saturday, November 26th residents and visitors are invited to Scrivener Square and Ramsden Park for Cavalcade 2011 at 2 p.m.

Kids will enjoy the festive programming with stilt dancers, ice sculptors and carolling at Paul Hahn & Co. Greet costumed characters and get Scrooge to part with a chocolate coin or pluck a candy cane from a Christmas tree character. Children can make face masks, get their faces painted and write a letter to Santa. They can even whisper their wish list right into jolly old Saint Nick's ear and take a picture with a special guest.

Adults are invited to sample food from local restaurants and food vendors for a cost of $5. They can also visit the LCBO for some tasty treats paired with alcohol samples.

Snap your fingers to the smooth sounds of Jersey Nights, featuring the songs of sixties sensation, The Four Seasons with Sherry, Working My Way Back To You and Walk Like A Man. Countermeasure A Cappella's harmonic blend will put visitors in a holiday mood with seasonal favourites.

The day's festivities come to an end with the lighting of Rosedale's signature blue tree on the CP bridge at 6 p.m.

Cavalcade 2011, Saturday, November 26th, 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Scrivener Square and Ramsden Park.

Getting There

Scrivener Square (10 Scrivener Square) is located on the North East corner of Yonge Street and Scrivener Square. The square can be reached by car, by foot or by TTC. Take the Yonge-University-Spadina line to either the Rosedale or Summerhill Subway stations.

From Rosedale station: walk north on Yonge Street to Scrivener Square.

From Summerhill station: walk south on Yonge Street to Scrivener Square.

Waterfront BIA

It's Better By The Water!

Check out the spectacular lights at the Waterfront! The Cavalcade of Lights continues throughout the winter on the waterfront and includes four locations along Queens Quay West. The fully restored, enhanced and permanent Tall Ship on Harbourfront Centre's Amsterdam Bridge (at Simcoe) uses a new generation of animated super bright LED lights. See more fabulous installations at The Music Garden (at Bathurst), the Firehall (at Rees) and the Westin Harbour Castle (at Yonge). The first lighting is Monday, November 14.

Getting There

We are located on Toronto's Central Waterfront along Queens Quay West between Bathurst Street and Yonge Street.

Via Transit: Take the TTC Spadina or Bathurst streetcar south from the subway stations or the LRT Harbourfront Line going west from Union Station.

Parking: Various locations including 208 Queens Quay W (enter from Lower Simcoe St), Rees Street at Queens Quay W and underground at the Radisson Hotel.
