Toronto Special Events volunteers fill key positions at our international award-winning festivals and events, assisting with the programming and logistical operations and providing a sense of warm community and hospitality at the events.
We currently have a team of more than 1,000 volunteers with very diverse backgrounds – from service clubs and cultural groups to families and individual residents. This team comes together to celebrate our city and actively participate in civic life. |
As a Toronto Special Events Volunteer, you will:
- have the chance to volunteer at some of Canada's leading festivals
- help the City of Toronto in its tourism endeavours and making Toronto a liveable city
- earn hours towards community service
- acquire new skills in event production working on some of the City's most spectacular events
- access an amazing network of enthusiastic individuals
- attend an
orientation to understand the festivals produced by Toronto Special Events

be trained for your specific festival or event role
- receive a recognition letter from Mayor David Miller

How to volunteer
Are you...
- A permanent resident of Toronto?
- Interested in festivals and events?
- Over the age of 16?
If yes, then you are eligible to become a Toronto Special Events Volunteer.
Becoming a volunteer is easy:
- Read about the volunteer positions available (see above) to find out if your skills, talents and interests match our team needs.
- Email spevvol@toronto.ca about attending an orientation session to become part of the team. Here, we present an overview of the event, describe the volunteer opportunities, and interview all applicants. You must attend an orientation in order to volunteer at one of our events.
