Christine Couvelier
Christine Couvelier

Christine Couvelier is the President of Culinary Concierge and is an expert in identifying the “Gold Standard” in what works when it comes to food markets. Her unique perspective on what display style is best, what signage is the most enticing, when do food demos work to increase sales, and which set-ups ensure best retail performance has enabled her to work for various organizations like Unilever Canada, George Brown College and Cara Operations Limited.

 

Dr. Ron Dembo

Dr. Ron Dembo

Dr. Ron Dembo is the Founder and CEO of Zerofootprint, an organization dedicated to a mass reduction in global environmental impact. Zerofootprint provides software and services to individuals, governments, universities, and corporations that measures and manages carbon footprint and engages employees and citizens worldwide in combating climate change. Zerofootprint came in first place and won Gold in the Climate Change category at the Canadian Environment Awards in 2008.

Prior to founding Zerofootprint, Dr. Dembo was the Founder, CEO, and President of Algorithmics Incorporated, growing it from a start-up to the largest enterprise risk-management software company in the world, with offices in fifteen countries and over 70% of the world’s top 100 banks as clients. Algorithmics was consistently voted as one of the top 50 best-managed companies in Canada.

 
William N. Greer
William Greer  

In 1992 William Greer, B.Arch., FRAIC, CAHP established a heritage consulting practice to provide a personal service to a variety of clients, firms and professionals requiring consultation relating specifically to emerging heritage issues and the conservation of buildings and sites.

Since then he has been engaged by owners and architectural firms as a consultant for the preparation of heritage inventories, assessments, evaluations, significance studies, intervention guidelines and conservation plans.

In 2006 he became an Architect [Retired] and is a Life Member of the Ontario Association of Architects. He continues to provide full services as a Professional Heritage Consultant.

 
Andrea P. Leers
Andrea Leers  

Andrea Leers, FAIA is a Principal at Leers Weinzapfel Associates, recipient of the 2007 AIA National Firm Award.  She has directed the design of a number of award winning projects including the Harvard University New College Theatre (formerly the Hasty Pudding Theatre), the Harvard University Science Center Expansion, the Blue Hill Avenue Youth Development Center, and the new Federal Courthouse in Orlando, Florida.  She received a Bachelor of Arts in History of Art from Wellesley College and a Master of Architecture from the Graduate School of Fine Arts at the University of Pennsylvania.  She is currently Director of Urban Design and Adjunct Professor of Architecture and Urban Design at the Harvard University Design School where she has taught since 1997 as a Visiting Critic. Ms. Leers has also taught at Yale University’s School of Architecture (1981-88), University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Fine Arts (1988, 1999), and Tokyo Institute of Technology Department of Architecture (1991). 

 
Peter Ortved
Peter Ortved  

Peter Ortved, B.Arch., OAA, FRAIC, is a Principal of CS&P Architects in Toronto. Prior to joining CS&P in 1993, he was a Principal of Cravit Ortved Architects for ten years. With over 30 years of experience as a practicing architect, Peter has exceptional knowledge of design issues, professional practice, and the construction industry. The work of the firm includes master planning and buildings for educational, civic, justice, and corporate clients; heritage preservation and adaptive re-use; interiors; and residential.

A native of Toronto, Peter received his Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Toronto. He is a member of the Ontario Association of Architects and a Fellow of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada.

Peter has served on a number of design award juries and as a Professional Advisor for several national and international architectural design competitions, including the City of Toronto Nathan Phillips Square Revitalization Design Competition; the Dundas Square Design Competition; and the Biosciences Complex, Agnes Etherington Art Centre, and Stauffer Library design competitions for Queen’s University

The firm has received over 65 design awards and honours including recent awards from the Ontario Association of Architects, Heritage Toronto, Ontario Wood Works Association, Toronto Architecture and Urban Design, and Athletic Business Magazine.

 
Russell Smith
David Mirvish

Russell Smith is a writer with an interest in urban life. He is best known for his novels and short stories, which are all set in Toronto, and have been nominated for the Governor General's Award and the Rogers Fiction Prize. He is a past winner of the William Allen White Award for journalism, in the United States, and a National Magazine Award in Canada. He writes two weekly columns in the Globe and Mail. He was the host of CBC Radio's weekly program on language, And Sometimes Y, for two seasons. His most recent novel, Girl Crazy, is published by HarperCollins Canada.

 
Claire Weisz
Claire Weisz  

Claire Weisz is a founding partner of WXY Architecture and an expert in sustainable urban design and architecture with a community oriented approach.

Weisz has developed a ground-breaking practice using new green and recycled materials with digitally driven design. The firms work has been published in a variety of national and international magazines including The New Yorker, Wired, Edutopia, AD and Detail. Her green approach to architecture is showcased in the award winning public parks and architecture that have played an important role in the revitalization of Lower Manhattan post 9/11.

Her award-winning work for charter schools and for Teach for America has made architecture an important part of these innovative programs. She was recognized as a Design Innovator by Chrysler/House Beautiful and as one of the Architectural League's 2009 New York Designs. The Bronx Charter School for the Arts won the AIA New York Chapter's highest honor award for architecture.

She is currently on the faculty of NYU's Wagner School of Public Policy, a Fellow of the Urban Design Institute and the Urban Design Forum and served on the NYSCA Architecture Design Panel and the New York AIA Board of Directors. Weisz was on the founding board for The Design Trust for Public Space and became its co-executive director.
