The proposal is based on the archetypal covered open market place. The structural principles of this concept are based on a tradition of construction evident in the South Market structure and repeated in generations of warehouse structures built throughout the city.

The market area is clad in red brick, and custom brick shapes are envisioned for the octagonal columns. The ceiling is finished in brick tiles laid up in panels applied to the underside of the concrete.
