The Toronto Solar Neighbourhood Initiative will be launching in South Riverdale in May 2008. The program will offer financial incentives for solar hot water installations on homes in Ward 30 - Toronto-Danforth. Residents will also get assistance with identifying other opportunities to save energy and reduce their home energy bills.
The Toronto Solar Neighbourhood Initiative will serve as a model for the City of Toronto's Live Green Toronto program and represents the first phase of a planned City-wide solar hot water campaign to be rolled out in 2010.
This Initiative is supported by a provincially mandated contribution from the Portlands Energy Centre made to Toronto Public Health, and is co-managed by the Toronto Atmospheric Fund, the City of Toronto Energy Efficiency Office, the Toronto Environment Office and Toronto Hydro.
If you are interested in participating in the initiative and in receiving notice once the program is launched, please send an e-mail to solar@toronto.ca. Please include your mailing address and postal code.
Community Advisory Committee
The Toronto Solar Neighbourhood Initiative will be supported by a local Community Advisory Committee to finalize the program design and to identify and integrate other local emission reduction opportunities into the program.
