For nearly 30 years, the Municipal Licensing and Standards Training Centre has provided training and development opportunities for taxicab drivers and owners in the City of Toronto. Today, we train thousands of drivers in topics as diverse as human rights, dealing with passengers with disabilities, business management, defensive driving, vehicle care, etc..Taxicab training, however, is about much more than just imparting knowledge and skills to taxicab drivers. It is an opportunity for drivers to reflect on their professionalism, level of skill, and the profession as a whole.
With this in mind, our mission with respect to training is to enhance service to the public, encourage responsible and effective business practices by industry participants, and improve driver safety and satisfaction.
The coming year will bring much change and opportunities for the Training Unit. We invite drivers, other industry participants, and the general public to visit our web site and learn more about the current and future opportunities and challenges in our industry.
