City of Toronto Carbon Offset Credits
The City of Toronto generates carbon offset credits through a variety of measures such as energy efficiency retrofits of City-owned buildings, collecting methane at three City landfills, and other projects such as solar photovoltaic installations, Deep Lake Water Cooling and major tree plantings. Air Quality Study Results - South Riverdale, Leslieville and Beaches
The City has completed a study of the air quality impact of emissions from all sources of air pollution in the South Riverdale-Leslieville-Beaches area (i.e. Ward 30 and Ward 32). The results of the study were presented at a public meeting on October 18, 2011. Learn more

Grants to reduce toxins
Business associations, labour groups and community organizations are invited to apply for a
ChemTRAC Toxics Reduction Grant - up to $25,000 for projects that help reduce the use and release of toxic chemicals in Toronto.
Grants to green your neighbourhood
Community, resident and not-for-profit groups are invited to apply for funds to help green Toronto's neighbourhoods and reduce the emissions that contribute to climate change. Grants of up to $25,000 are available for
community-based projects, and up to $250,000 for
capital projects.
Grants: Cool and green roof incentives for business
Applications are being accepted for the
Eco-Roof Incentive Program – cool and green roof grants for commercial, industrial and institutional buildings in Toronto. Eligible green roof projects may receive $50/square metre up to $100,000; cool roofs may receive $2-5/ square metre up to $50,000.
Toronto named second greenest Canadian city
The World Wildlife Fund Canada's
Earth Hour List, compiled in partnership with Corporate Knights in March 2011, highlights positive actions being taken by municipalities to fight climate change. Toronto ranked second with a score of 7.2 out of ten.
Cut it Out Toronto!
Cut it Out Toronto! is a program that invites Toronto residents to drop off their old, polluting, gas-powered leaf and snow blowers, lawnmowers and trimmers for responsible recycling at selected Canadian Tire stores. Grants: Home Energy Help for those in need
Home Energy Help was a pilot program in 2010 and 2011 offered by the City of Toronto and Enbridge Gas Distribution to help those in need reduce their energy use, save money and make their home more comfortable.
