Summary: This report assesses Canada's corporate readiness for managing GHG emissions by conducting a GHG Emissions Management Survey. The report highlights how Canadian companies are responding and also mentions that anticipated government regulations are the primary driver for corporations to develop GHG policies. However, the report also shows that regulatory uncertainty from government makes it difficult for companies to implement mitigation or adaptation strategies. Additionally, the report shows a trend that emitting companies have not yet developed integrated protocols for GHG emissions management and recommends that companies go beyond technical considerations and to include elements of financial and enterprise risk management within their mitigation and adaptation strategies. The survey also found that some companies are making incremental adaptation changes without connecting them to long term-GHG management strategies.
