Business leaders recommend job creation strategies to Economic Development Committee

A blue ribbon panel of business leaders will present their recommendations for stimulating economic development and job creation to the City's Economic Development Committee on Thursday, June 2. The presentation will be made by Blake Goldring, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of AGF Management Ltd., one of the largest independent Canadian investment management firms.

Councillor Michael Thompson (Ward 37 Scarborough Centre), Chair of the Economic Development Committee, invited Mr. Goldring to assemble and chair an advisory committee to help Toronto realize its economic potential.

Mr. Goldring brought together 16 leaders representing a cross section of economic development spheres. These leaders identified 12 pragmatic action areas to increase the efficiency of City operations and improve the business and cultural climate in Toronto. Most can be implemented quickly with current City resources.

The Committee's report, Toronto Prosperity Initiative: Establishing the Path to Growth (PDF), is now available.
