Globally recognized skin-care products
Elizabeth Grant has the 'rejuvenation' formula figured out, both for healthy skin as well as for the company.
Elizabeth Grant started the company that is her namesake in the late 1950s, but the origins of the company came a few years before that. After the close of the Second World War, Ms. Grant sought a means to repair the damage to her skin, damage caused by a bomb blast that had caused her to feel self-conscious about the way she looked.
"All that changed in 1948 when I read about a substance that was being used to treat war wounds," says Ms. Grant. "I had a chemist make up the treatment for me and within 8 months my skin started to show signs of a remarkable improvement."
She decided to develop her own skin care treatment line based on this formulation called "Torricelumn". The treatment would go on to become Elizabeth Grant's signature product and won her and her company accolades from around the world.
Years later Ms. Grant retired and the company retired along with her.
But in 1997 Elizabeth Grant was re-launched in Toronto. This corporate 'rejuvenation' started with only two products. Now, the company employs over 50 people and produces over 70 products in the Elizabeth Grant Skincare line at its Toronto labs and factory.
These products are recognized globally and are highly sought after, especially by celebrities. Praise for the products is widespread and they been lauded by beauty editors and industry insiders.
"Being located in a city with a global reputation is very important for us," says Ms. Grant. "We have access to all of the external services and resources we need close at hand. Toronto encourages so much growth - internally and abroad - that the possibilities for our company are very wide reaching."
